Where Do We Come From?

The “Ouss qu’on s’en va?” colloquium was founded nine years ago by students from the Université Laval School of Architecture in Quebec City. Once every year, this initiative brings together over a hundred students and a dozen lecturers from universities and practices in Quebec, Canada and North-America for a weekend of discussions on the future of architecture and its education. The schools of architecture from Université Laval, Université de Montréal and McGill University take turns in hosting the event under varying themes, and offer lectures bringing to light alternative approaches in architecture and its many associated fields. “Ouss qu’on s’en va?” aims to provide a unique opportunity for dialogue between Canadian architecture students and specialists while reinforcing bonds between the participating schools.

The 2019 edition of “Ouss qu’on s’en va?” will be held at McGill University around the general theme of “Architecture of learning”. Topics including architectural education, computational design, reference to history and women in architecture are to be explored under the light of alternative schools of thought in research, academia and practice. The intention behind this year’s colloquium is to expose students to new ideas within fields they think they know.
