Sophie Wilkin

Sophie Wilkin joined the Provencher_Roy team in 2015 and has since participated in multiple projects, studies and architectural competitions. She has worked as project designer on various projects, including the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quai cruise terminal and observation tower, the Sainte-Catherine street rejuvenation project and the Vendôme metro station renewal. She distinguishes herself through her experience with complex urban infrastructures, her ability for conceptual development and her dynamic collaborative approach.  

 

Sophie Wilkin holds a Master’s degree in Architecture, with a specialization in Design Studio Directed Research, from McGill University (2011) and an Undergraduate degree in Architecture from Université de Montréal (2009), where she received the Jodoin Lamarre Pratte Scholarship for her final project. This gave her the opportunity to study architectural solutions in Japan regarding earthquake engineering. Her final thesis project focused on  socializing traffic and creating a network of events within an existing rail corridor and projected suburban public transit. She received academic distinctions such as the Régis Côté Graduate Prize in Design and Sustainability and the Norbert Schoenauer scholarship for her research in creating sustainable mobility systems that are social and integrated.

 

Since 2016, Sophie Wilkin paddles for the Canadian Dragon Boat National Team. Dragon boat is a great team sport composed of 20 people paddling in synchrony. She has participated in one IDBF World Nations in Kunming, China and two IDBF World Cup in Wujin and Chongqing, China. Sophie is the captain of a competitive Montreal Premier women’s team. In 2018, they won gold medals in every distance (200m, 500m and 2000m) at the Club Crew World Championships in Szeged, Hungary. Performing and thriving with 20 powerful women is mainly achievable through great team work and determination.
